2016 "Tongji University - Marburg University Summer School in Chemistry" held its opening ceremony successfully

2016 "Tongji - Marburg University Summer School in Chemistry" held its opening ceremony in Room 120, Chemistry Building. The event was hosted by our School. Luo Deping of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhang Yanghui and Associate Professor Wu Yanhui, Wei Guangfeng and Ke Zhimin attended the opening ceremony. A total of more than 40 Chinese and German teachers and students also joined in the opening ceremony. Professor Zhang Yang did the welcome speech.

In his speech, Professor Zhang first introduced and reviewed the past three years’ history of exchanges and cooperation between Tongji and Marburg University. He stressed that young people are the future of the country and that international exchanges are the core. We hope that teachers and students from both sides work together to learn from each other, enhance mutual understanding and friendship, and let the young people make a positive contribution through harmonious cultural understanding and tolerance for the friendly cause. Prof. Zhang also briefed the students and students on the history of Tongji University and Germany, as well as the overall situation of the newly established School of Chemical Science and Technology, and warmly welcomes German students to our school.

After his speech, Olalla, leading teacher from University of Marburg, expressed her gratitude for the support of the event and encouraged German students to strictly abide by the Chinese laws and regulations in the following activities and actively communicate with their Chinese friends. Speaking on behalf of the German students, German student shared their views on China, expressed their interest in China and expressed their hope to learn more about Chinese traditional culture through this opportunity.

After the ceremony, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and posed for pictures. This summer camp is themed with "sustainable development of the latest application of chemistry". During the two-week program, about 40 professors and outstanding students from both countries attended schools. The topics covered are high-tech fields such as structure and catalysis. At the meeting, the professors and graduate students of each school introduced the latest progress and research achievements of their respective research, so that members of the participating activities got a lot of up-to-date information for the establishment of scientific research cooperation between the two schools, promoting the scientific development of two schools which all bear very positive significance.
