【CONGRATULATIONS】 Great achievements were made by Tongji students in the 2019 "SCIP Plus" Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest

The final of the 2019 "SCIP Plus" Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest was held in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) on the 7th of December. Team "Tongzhougongji" won the second prize of the contest with the results of ranking second in the Innovation Group. Team members Mengting Yao and Shuangfei Xiang, postgraduate students from the Faculty of Chemical Science and Engineering, Tongji University, and Wenhua Xu, PhD student from Shanghai Jiaotong University, stood out from the national primary and rematch. The entered fierce competition in the final and won the second prize of the contest with the results of ranking second in the Innovation Group under the supervision of Professor Qinghua Lu.

With the topic of “Green Development Changes World, Chemical Industry Creates Smart Future”, this 2019 "SCIP Plus" Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest stick to the development concept of “innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing”. Divided into two groups of Innovation Group and Entrepreneurship Group, the Contest is for colleges and universities, scientific research institutes, start-ups and teams at home and abroad to collect innovative  or entrepreneurship projects in the fields of new materials, new energy, environmental protection, intelligent manufacturing, process control, etc. with the requirements that every project should highlight a greener synthesis path, greener reaction conditions and greener chemical design concept. It aims to foster multidisciplinary and multifield practices, encourage college students and start-ups to practice entrepreneurship, explore application of emerging technologies in life, implement the concept of transfer from scientific and technological achievements to productivity. The competition was jointly held by The Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China(CIESC), China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation(CPCIF), Business France, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) and East China University of Science and Technology(ECUST). The Contest has received a total of 259 works of 101 colleges and universities from 27 provinces and cities in China, and the application teams came from Fudan University, Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology, etc.  After the preliminary competition and two rounds of re competition, 53 teams (30 innovation groups + 23 entrepreneurship groups) finally qualified for the final. The final competition is divided into two stages: the group elimination competition and the "gold competition". The first place of the elimination group enters the final "gold competition".

The teamed called “Tongzhougongji” was organized by Mengting Yao, Shuangfei Xiang and Wenhua Xu. They participated in the "Green Synthesis and Industrialization of Flexible Substrate Materials for AMOLED Display" project under supervision of Professor Qinghua Lu. The proposed project matched the requirements of the national development strategy and meet the second technological revolution in the field of display technology. In this project, a series of flexible display key film materials were reported be to developed innovatively , more than 20 high-level academic papers have been published and more than ten patterns were generated. The participating team focused on the green design and advanced manufacturing technology of polymer monomers, and pioneered the polyimide microfluidic polymerization technology. The technical innovation, green design and energy-saving and environmental protection concepts embodied in this project were highly praised by the judges and the audience. The on-site roadshow was a complete success, and the participating students got innovative experience. The project team finally won the second prize of this competition with the second place of the Innovation Group.
