About the lecture
The lecture on 9thNov.will disclose data obtained in three complementary strands of Dr. Uwe Schneider’s current research, all focused on the development of novel (asymmetric) base, acid, and/or dual catalysts. In the lecture, bis(dialkylamino)cyclopropenylidenes(BAC’s), gallium(I) complexes and metal amides, as three kinds of catalysts which lead to unique reactions, will be discussed respectively. Chiral BAC, Uwe Schneider developed as an enantioselective catalyst, has resulted in highly asymmetric aza-Morita–Baylis–Hillman reactions at ambient temperature (up to 97%ee); gallium(I) complexes, with their both electron donor and acceptor properties, have been shown to be acidic, basic, or ambiphilic in a stoichiometric context, which displays different reaction possibilities from conventional consideration; As for metal amides, Uwe Schneider has developed the first sodium amide-catalyzed C–C bond formations between various imines and unbiased or functionalized olefins through a rare formal C(sp3)–H bond activation. All above will be involved in details in next Monday’s lecture.
